Boy, 12, dies after being knocked off bike on Caerphilly road

A 12-year-old cyclist has died after he was strike by a automobile while on a categorical highway in Caerphilly county.

Cole Roper, from Cefn Forest, Blackwood, was on a bike with another 12-year-old child on a A4049 between Aberbargoed and Pengam.

The bike was strike by a blue Vauxhall Astra during about 21:30 BST on Saturday.

Cole was taken to Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, and after to a University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where he died.

The other child was treated for his injuries and liberated from hospital.

Gwent Police has asked motorists who were regulating a highway during a time to check any dashcam footage to assistance with inquiries.
